2 weeks to go until a hellish 24 hours

I’ll be circling Parliament for 24 hours straight, on the very day MPs return from their summer break

In just 14 days’ time, I’ll be walking non stop for 24 hours around Parliament, a protest against this Labour Government’s shocking lack of action for animals. At Protect the Wild, we are sick and tired of banging our heads against a brick wall when it comes to legislative change. Time and again, we see no desire from those in power to make Britain a better place for animals.

The truth is simple: donations and lobbying from the animal agriculture industry matter more to this Government than the suffering of British wildlife. From the continuation of the badger cull and the endless scapegoating of badgers for bovine TB, to the fact that just one MP turned up to oppose grouse shooting at a recent debate, and the painfully slow progress on ending hunting with hounds, the pattern is clear.

Worse still, the only concrete action they’ve taken has been to weaken animal welfare: legalising the practice of carrying chickens upside down by their legs. That’s not progress, it’s cruelty.

That’s why I’ll be circling Parliament for 24 hours straight, on the very day MPs return from their summer break. Because Protect the Wild isn’t going anywhere, we’re only growing stronger by the day.
