Allowing (or encouraging) children to take part in an activity which is abusive to animals AND illegal is of course abhorrent and is nothing less than child abuse.

It has long been recognised that children living in families where domestic abuse is taking place is extremely damaging to children. It has been proven that just hearing and 'experiencing' domestic 'turmoil' can be damaging.

Unfortunately a lot of people who work in the child protection arena are ignorant about the atrocities being carried out by hunts, gamekeepers and any other section of a community who torture and kill animals. This ignorance prevents them from being aware and exposing these depraved people who often have children.

I would strongly urge those who design and deliver training to social workers and family support professionals to cover this area of potential abuse.

I am very proud that at age 13 I said 'No, I don't want to go hunting, thank you, I think it's cruel!' Jaws hit the ground and I thought I would lose my contact with horses, but I never did and aged 74, still caring for my rescued racehorse, cob and shetlands! Young people can have minds of their own, but I am a strong person, many indeed get brainwashed and desensitised, I have seen it. This is a very, very important step forwards, get this petition out everywhere!
