On the 13th of October I sent out a post titled ‘We’re building something special and I want you to be a part of it’. Well fast forward 51 days later and at the time of writing this we are well and truly building something special.
In fact 100 of you have now become paid subscribers here on Substack. It means we’re now at an amazing £885/month in our Protecting the Wild equipment fund. And to date we have supported 11 activist groups across the UK! Every single penny we receive on Substack goes directly to supporting the courageous heroes putting themselves in harm’s way to protect wildlife.
Just last week we were able to purchase a drone to put an eye in the sky on Cheshire’s hunts. Our idea of a virtuous circle has been put into practice and it is working!
We give a platform and a voice for monitors, saboteurs, anyone out in the field protecting the wild, and we channel every penny we receive from paid subscriptions on Substack to these brilliant individuals. And the purpose of this email is to encourage you to get behind this initiative. We’ve done the numbers and the potential impact we could have is truly incredible if we’re able to keep growing!
There are now 61,000 people receiving these emails and part of the Protect the Wild community. Now imagine if everyone chipped in the cost of a cup of coffee each month - we’d be sitting on £183,000/month! Ok, maybe even I would admit we don’t need this much, but hopefully you get my point.
I will be doing everything I can to ensure this community continues to grow and our equipment fund continues to scale month on month. Because I have a vision where activists are properly geared up to take on the thousands of cowards out killing wildlife for kicks.
Quite frankly, direct action is still the most effective way to protect animals. Whether it be using drones to keep an eye on hunts, physically running in front of hounds, surveying badger setts or monitoring a stag hunt. There are so many brave and determined members of the public taking action into their own hands. And they should never have to stress about the cost of fuel or not having the necessary equipment to stay safe from the often violent individuals they encounter.
So my request is a simple and transparent one. If you can afford £3/month and you are aligned with what I stand for then please consider chipping in and upgrading your subscription to a paid one.
In just a few months we have already supported a dozen groups and I firmly believe this is just the beginning. You can check out November’s equipment grants below:
Putting an ‘eye in the sky’ on Cheshire’s Hunts - Nov 27
Monitoring badger setts in Derbyshire - Nov 6
It is on us to empower each other to stand in the way of those intent on killing wildlife. And it is on us to sign petitions, share articles, attend demos and do anything and everything we can to change the score.
Together we can empower people to protect British wildlife and take this fight into our own hands.
Onwards and upwards
Rob,
Founder & CEO, Protect the Wild
We’re so close to £1,000/month! Can you help us get there by the end of this year?
Our content is free but if you choose to take out a paid subscription you’ll be helping activists on the ground take direct action to protect wildlife. Every penny we receive tops up our Equipment Fund to support those in the field. Our pot currently stands at £855/month, can you help us reach our goal of £1,000/month?
I hope lots more people sign up, for those who aren’t able to practically participate in protecting our amazing wildlife this is a fantastic way to help. If you ever exceeded the funds you need to support monitors then perhaps a fund could be started to help with legal fees to prosecute the sub humans who commit crimes? The police are underfunded and have already demonstrated that they are not interested in prosecuting their hunting mates. Good luck
I have 3 drones that I would like to donate.
How do I go about doing that please
