Thanks for laying bare the farce that is the law on fox-hunting with dogs in England. I wasn’t aware that the the law was deliberately ‘sabotaged’ by Tory MPs when it was debated and passed in 2004 making it all but unenforceable especially when the local rural police force is sympathetic to the hunters.

Yes, a new law on fox-hunting needs to be introduced; if they can do it in Scotland they can do it in England. (Though only time will tell how effective the new law is in its application).

Call me a fool but I’d like to think that if the law was tighter on fox-hunting the rural police would be more committed to policing it and charging offenders. This would help to rehabilitate them in the eyes of the animal welfare activists - and much of the public in general - who often view them, when present, as there to police them, the activists, rather than the law-breaking hunters.

And that would only be a good thing.
