Eight weeks? It should have been eight months. Or in my world, eight years.

How do they think that eight weeks is a suitable punishment and an effective deterent?

Peregrines nest near us every year and we all delight in the young taking flight. The biggest disturbance they face are from climbers, despite the nest on private property by an isolated house. Hard to distinguish a climber from an egg stealer, though I don't think it has happened as we watch the young. As usual for offences against wildlife, the penalty does not come anywhere near fitting the crime, and is no deterrent when big money is the prize. It seems cruelty pays! Incidentally, I wish sabs and monitors could be given the same credibility status as RSPB!
