Join the fight against fox hunting with Action Against Foxhunting
Are you looking to get more active for wildlife?
At Protect the Wild, we are keen to support as many groups as we can that share our goals and aspirations. One of these groups is Action Against Foxhunting (AAF), a dynamic and flexible campaign group composed of dedicated volunteers from across the country.
Below is a message from AAF about the work that they do and a call for our supporters to get on board and volunteer with them!
AAF’s main focus is outreach, engaging directly with the public. While social media has its place, to effectively combat the cruelty of foxhunting, AAF campaigners need to be out on the streets, engaging with passers-by and informing them about the harsh realities of fox hunting.
The Hunting Act, intended to ban hunting, has not been effective. For the past twenty years, hunts have continued despite the ban, clinging to their pursuits. As we anticipate a change in government, we have a real chance to end this cruel practice for good. However, the hunts won’t go quietly. They possess resources we lack: money, power, and corruption.
This is where you come in. The more AAF volunteers we have on the streets exposing hunts, challenging complacency, and addressing ignorance, the better our chances of ending fox hunting forever. AAF welcomes new volunteers to join in outreach, leafleting, and conducting surveys.
Over the past six years, AAF has made significant strides by speaking to people on the streets about fox hunting. Since 2018, they have informed, educated, and gently persuaded individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their initial views or knowledge. When they started, fox hunting was a taboo subject. No one dared to criticize the hunts, seen as pillars of the community. Their saintly public image and influential status shielded them from public scrutiny. AAF challenged that narrative by appearing in public spaces and shedding light on the issue.
Now, six years later, the situation has changed. The hunts have been repeatedly exposed, often through their own actions, and are now recognised as the toxic organisations they have always been. We stand on the brink of real change, but there is still much work to be done. We need more conversations, more listening, more outreach, and more persuasion.
Are you good at listening to people? Do you enjoy engaging with the public? If so, join Action Against Foxhunting and be part of something truly meaningful.
