It’s late summer and after a brief respite the wildlife killing has started again.
Cub hunting - where hunts train their hounds for the upcoming ‘season’ using fox cubs - began earlier than ever this year. In the uplands shooters have been blasting Red Grouse out of the air - one of just two bird species found in the UK and nowhere else in the world. Incredibly, the bloody badger cull is still taking place, with more licences to kill more animals doled out by Natural England.
But putting their bodies on the line to monitor or even stop these anachronistic and cruel ‘blood businesses’ are front-line activists.
And Protect the Wild and our supporters are - as always - ready to help!
Support and Equipment
As brave as these activists are - and it takes real courage to stand up to the violent bullies and thugs hired by hunts to protect them - they need to go into the field with some sort of personal protection or evidence-gathering kit: bodycams, long-range radios, camcorders, or drones and the like.
The cost of equipping a whole team can be very expensive. Protect the Wild and our generous supporters know that and we are here to help!
Right now many activists are checking over cameras, thinking about upgrading radios, making sure bodycams are working, or planning to get new kit to help them tackle wildlife crime and the cruelty inflicted on animals by ‘sportsmen’ and the hunting and shooting industries.
For a year now we have been ringfencing every penny we receive for paid subscriptions here on Substack into an Equipment Fund that we distribute through our Support Network.
If you or your group need something - big or small - please get in touch! And we can send equipment like the items below to you asap.

Because the equipment comes through the generosity of our supporters we do have a couple of standard T&Cs (which you can find here), but - as hopefully every group we’ve supported so far will tell you - we are very hands-off.
