We were on BBC News calling out fox hunting!

A couple of hours ago, our call for the Labour Government to finally end hunting for good, and to close the loopholes that hunts have exploited for the past 20 years, was seen by more than 100,000 people on BBC News and BBC iPlayer.

The interview formed part of my campaign to raise awareness of the Government’s public consultation on hunting, which I am highlighting through my candidacy in the upcoming Makerfield by-election.

As I’ve said before, I am standing in this election to put this issue in front of as many people as possible, to put on the record the complete lack of trust many of us have in this Government to deliver for animals, and to make sure hunting cannot simply be ignored or forgotten.

What makes this particularly exciting is that opportunities like this are incredibly rare. For around 45 seconds, on one of the biggest news platforms in the country, we were able to speak directly to the public about hunting without interruption, without being talked over, and without having to squeeze our message into a hostile debate. We were simply given the time to explain exactly what needs to happen: hunting must be banned properly, and the loopholes that have allowed it to continue for two decades must finally be closed. And importantly, our concerns that just implementing a ban on trail hunting simply won’t go far enough.
