It was always going to be a difficult decision in light of the fact that yours, ours was a serious issue. But the likes of Lawrence Fox shows the level of other candidates.
A good decision Rob, being part of a farce would not further our cause and would allow Farage to argue that he was opposed by crackpots and tree hugging Lefties.
As always, a perfect decision from Rob. I can't remember exactly when I started supporting Protect the Wild - but I do remember that the reason for my choice was that Rob always argued clearly and his logic was virtually flawless. I believe he has a perfect moral compass - that is truly rare to the point where I can't think of any other public speaker who has that. He is not afraid to change his mind - that too is a rare - he never worries about 'losing face' because he has no false ego. He is one of the most perfectly balanced human beings that I can think of. A truly Great Leader!
Fully understand the logic and the cause got a lot of good publicity into the bargain, highlighting to the public Farage’s hatred for wildlife. What’s not to like !
Totally support your decision. All the comments I've seen have been about NF v The bin. That's what has cut through for many. The newspaper coverage you generated is great. That's enough of a win as the election descends further into farce. You've drawn more attention to NF being very much part of the establishment and supporting a bloodsport the majority opposes.
Good call, as it is turning into even more of a farce. The latest polls are moving in favour of Count Binface and if he defeats Farage I will be making a donation to Protect the Wild.
Hi Rob. What you do is fantastic so pleased don't stop doing it!
With regard to standing in by-elections I just wonder whether being dressed as the fox just allows the haters to ridicule too easily as I have noticed so often in the past.
Would it not be better to stand dressed normally as a Protect the Wild candidate with obvious large wording on say a t-shirt or the like and maybe a well worded sign which would allow those who don't generally even think about cruel sports because to see who you really are and why you are standing without such easy ridicule.
We know that cruelty to kittens or domestic dogs gets huge reactions on social media where as wildlife cruelty gets far less from the normal man/woman in the street. Somehow we need to relate to those who would agree with us but just look away when it's not a cute domestic animal being abused!
Sorry a bit of a rant but I hate that many humans seem to choose that it's ok to be cruel to some animals and not others!
Good call Rob, you have to choose your battles wisely and getting involved in this fiasco would do nothing to further wildlifes' cause as you said. You have generated some good publicity though.
Well done, I agree with everything you said.
100% right strategy. Thank you for such considered action and for sharing all details with us.

I think you’ve done exactly the right thing. We are serious, the others are not.
This feels like the right decision, well done Rob for not joining this line up of self serving people.

You're absolutely right Lorna, beautifully put!

Yes, I agree. It’s the most sensible decision. Thank you for your commitment Rob.

Quite understand.
Well said, Rob. A very wise decision - you defintely don't want to be associated in any way with those ridiculous individuals.

Dignity always trumps (If you'll excuse the word) clownishness
And dignity is what the animals deserve when challenging what is being done to them
Meantime Paul Windridge and I have published six books on Fox’s
The one to which the attached link refers addresses trail hunting in the storyline
