This Summer we launched the Protecting the Wild Equipment Fund to put ‘eyes in the field’ and empower people to protect British wildlife.
The concept was simple. Every penny we receive here on Substack from paid subscriptions will be used to purchase items such as trail cameras, radios, drones, night vision optics etc for activists on the frontline protecting wildlife.
And six weeks later, 135 of you have joined us on a paid subscription meaning we now have £363 a month coming in!
So I thought this would be an ideal time to update our community here on Substack with how your generous donations have been used (and maybe tempt some of you to also join us on a paid subscription ;)
In the last two weeks we have made full use of every penny and you have helped us to
Purchase 6 new radios for Hull Wildlife Protectors (read here)
Send recording equipment to a small group of independent monitors who cover NE Yorkshire (read here)
Purchase radios for Cheshire Borderland Monitors (read here)
This is just the beginning
We have HUGE ambitions for where we can take this project. Only six weeks in and we have been able to provide three brilliant groups with much needed equipment to help them tackle wildlife abusers.
It is so exciting to think where we will be in six months and even six years! We want to do absolutely everything possible to empower people to protect British wildlife and with your support we can do just that.
We are only able to buy the equipment we give out because of paid subscriptions on Substack and our generous donors, so the more people that join us then the more equipment we can give out to the heroes on the frontline protecting the wild.
Maybe I’m a little too optimistic but wouldn’t it be amazing if we could get to £1,000/month by the end of this year?! We would then be able to give out equipment literally every single week!
So if you’re reading this and have a couple of pounds spare each month and want to chuck it in the pot so to speak then please consider upgrading to a paid subscription today. Together we are building something truly special to protect wildlife and help the heroes putting their lives on the line.
We know times are hard so I also just want to thank you for being a part of our community and reading what we put out. As well as donating, sharing our articles and telling friends about what we do is just as valuable too!
Onwards and upwards!
Rob
Brilliant work!
Great idea
