So sad. BBC report? That's a surprise. Police quoting The Badgers Act protection law; oh they do know it then? Crazy when put next to the cull licenses! Well done Badger group for trying to save Oakey, and a further pat on the back for getting publicity like that.

How terrible. The pain and anxiety those poor animals must have felt. If the trap was infact found in a garden the owners should prosecuted asap!

How bloody evil. May whoever did this die a long slow painful death.

RIP poor Oakey and all the other poor badgers, squirrels, foxes, rabbits etc who have been caught and killed in these horrid wires. Thank you Mid Derbyshire Badger Group for trying to save poor Oakey. I just sincerely hope that labour does ban cruel snares if they get into power. I was disappointed that the green party hadn't mentioned snares in their manifesto though but I would imagine that, considering they say they are against all bloodsports, they would try and ban snares as well.

YOU CAN HAVE LAWS THAT BAN THESE CRUEL DEADLY KILLERS OF NATURE. BUT HOW DO YOU ENFORCE THE LAW WHEN THESE ITEMS ARE PLACED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AND ARE SUPPORTED BY LANDOWNERS?

Well done Mid Derbyshire Badger Group! Your efforts on behalf of Oakey are applauded by animal lovers everywhere!!!

Such a shame that it was necessary.

Those b*****ds will reap what they sow, if there is any justice in this world.

Thank you, one and all,

Anne Meredith ❤️ 💚💚💚

Sounds positive but tragically (UN)Natural England have a disgusting record licensing the destruction of many of our favourite birds. They have much to answer for. Little steps must become those of giants. And they can’t come soon enough.

The more I hear about the lack of care and interest from this embarrassing and appalling government the more I’ll have some degree of satisfaction they’ve been booted out. I know it won’t be because of many peoples love for nature, unlike us on here, but at least it allows some salvation for our beleaguered countryside and the flora and fauna that wish to live and grow in it.
