Hi Debbie.

I’m sure the dedication and hard work will pay off with some great viewing.

I have a badger visit my garden with the fox and hogs too it gives me such a lift. They are after the cat food mine don’t eat.

I wish I didn’t have to say this but please be vigilant for those who seek pleasure from harming badgers. Disgusting individuals but they exist sadly.

Thanks again for that you’ve achieved and done for the gorgeous badgers.

Hi Paul,

Thank you, it is a lovely pleasure to watch, they just make me smile.

We have had specially made gates, (made by carpenters amongst the community) that allows the badgers & the wild life to go about their business but to stop the horrors of dreadful people that seek to harm them. We have the cameras up, along with notices that they are on cctv. We luckily all over look the field and keep a very protective eye.

We have had people just roaming around, before being gated with dogs in their cars but I readily approached them. Their aim unknown, it could well have been a developer but shown their way out.

Thank you for your kind words of support. We are determined to keep them safe.

Best Debbie

It's great that the developers have been sent away with a bloody nose. I am so happy for you, and the wildlife even more so.

But... What happens if HS5 (numbers changed to protect the guilty) comes along or the law gets changed? It won't matter who owns it then.

Hi Paul, the story will be in our local paper tomorrow (Saturday) The Argus and online on Sunday. Thank you for your kind words of support, it's been a long challenge but it's truly wonderful to have been successful in buying the field. The badgers are very happily going under their new fence and clearing out their setts. A marvellous wild life field for their lifetime and for their future generations and ours. - Living along side each other. x

Can you ask Debbie to refrain from cutting back the brambles I wonder? Scrub is a much maligned and overlooked habitat. Scrub and bramble is great nesting habitat for our summer migrant birds such as Chiffchaff, Blackcap and Sedge Warbler. It also protects the entrances of Badger setts and Fox dens. Loss of understory and scrub is a key factor in the decline of species such as Willow Tit. Tidiness is the enemy!

Dear Chris, we are aware thank you. The brambles have now taken over the whole field, since it has been just left. The brambles suffocate the natural flowers that the bees and butterflies thrive on. It has restricted the equal balance for the badgers, foxes and slowworms, we will endeavour to bring the field to an equal balance that they all used to enjoy. Not all the bramble will be removed and hopefully we will add carefully selected trees. Thank you Debbie

Hi Chris. As a birder first and foremost I completely get what you're saying. I don't think anyone is sure at this stage (this is literally breaking news!) what the plans are, but I would hope a bird-friendly ecologist will be advising. We'll check in and make some suggestions anyway :) Thanks

Badgers should be protected. It's about time that Badgers are saved. It's their world too for God's sake. They are living beings too. They have a role to play in nature. It's about time that mankind realized this. Badgers deserve respect and dignity and protection.

Dear Moira,

My words exactly, when I was asked why and came across objections. It was a long road to protect them, we are all living alongside each other. x
