Hi everyone. YWT have now responded to the Derwent Hunt trespass: https://www.ywt.org.uk/chafer-wood-trespass

I have sent this to the Derwent Hunt:-

Hunting is way out of date and so are you! Get into today, worry about the planet not prancing around on beautiful horses you only see once in a blue moon and think you look the part. You don't and you are not! Start taking time in something worthwhile for goodness sake. Grow up and move on. Help the world and the creatures we have left within it,

although I say it I think it's probably too late. But if you cannot see what you doing is so wrong and cruel, I hope I never have the displeasure of meeting you.

Yours, not quite imagining how you sleep at night,

Mrs Sally Dipper

Yest another instance of hunt arrogance and entitlement. Well done to whoever filmed and documented this.

Good send them to jail, quick

So typical of hunts countrywide to go where they like, when they like. Arrogant and entitled the lot of them. I hate them

Malicious damage to property (cutting up the footpaths by shod horses), disturbing the peace, trespass, engaging in a criminal activity namely fox hunting with a pack of hounds, reckless endangerment. On the fox hunting part alone, they surely can be criminally charged which IS a police matter!

Hi Regina. You'd think so, yes, but we have been very careful in this post NOT to say that the Hunt were 'hunting'. That's because there is no evidence in the footage to definitively prove that, and while the old adage 'If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it's a duck' would seem to 100% fit, we can't prove it, and therefore can't say it. It's incredibly frustrating, but we and the monitors know from experience that the police/CPS will simply not act unless there is at least video or photographic evidence of a fox and a chase - and any ensuing legal action would detract from the clear breaches that the monitors captured.

Assume YWT have been shown this? At very least a letter from them should be going out to members to highlight any action they may be taking against the hunt. As a member, I would certainly want to know that my subscription wasn't wasted and that no pro-hunt members condone this. Voluntary donations for civil action would possibly result in a clear message to the hunt!

Hi Rosemary. The video has been sent to YWT, yes. What they will do with it we don't yet know!

I'm afraid I don't trust 'Wildlife Trusts'! Often owned by hunting landowners and trust officers! I once had an almighty row with the local president of the Wild Life Trust who defended the hunt sending in terriers to slaughter a vixen nursing her cubs in order to protect a nesting site for Little Terns. Not my kind of conservation! I hope YWT is different.

True I don't either

Self-entitled arrogant bastards. Is the wildlife trust taking any action?

I emailed these scumbags (not that they will care). What we need is a decent government that will uphold the hunting act.

Heartbreaking to see this happening….to hear the beautiful bird song at the beginning of the video clip was so poignant….it said it all

Horrified at the blatant trespassing and obvious hunting (even though it technically can’t be proven) on this land, with horses, quad bikes and a pack of dogs all off lead. The arrogance and the entitlement of this hunt knows no bounds. Unless the YWT set an example and prosecute or take civil or legal action, this will continue to happen all over the U.K. I won’t waste my time contacting the hunt, but I will email the Head Office of the Wildlife Trust asking them what they intend to do about this matter. Well done to the people involved taking this video. Thanks for posting this, Charlie.

Until the law is changed putting an end to any kind of hunting once and for all, it remains impossible to ensure the safety and protect wildlife and the public from the out of control hazards that are the very foundation of this archaic activity. How an activity that is so dangerous, anti-social and hated by 80% of the public it is still accepted in law is beyond me.

This is terrible. Can't these people read signs.

Definitely proscecute for this reckless behaviour.
