Indeed there is still a long way to go. The more you study laws designed to help animals the more you realise the issues we have. The very use of the terms 'property' and ownership of animals for instance are commonplace and show how far we still have to go.
Yeah it is a joke quite frankly. We need greater deterrents and harsher punishments across all areas of animal protection. I think the key issue is that the law takes so long to catch up with mainstream societal thought. Now more than ever the public and police are aware of the seriousness of crimes committed against animals and the crossover with other organised criminal activity.
And why can’t these laws be extended to fox hunting? It is even easier to catch these law breakers, you can’t miss a pack of hounds being followed people on horseback. Failing that it should be law that fox hounds be kept on a lead, that would be one way to stop the hounds chasing a fox when they out “trail hunting”
An absolute abhorrent act of evil, no blood sports should exist in what is supposed to be a civilised, democratic nation. This weak government is yet again not doing enough for animal welfare.
Agreed, and it is ridiculous that organisations should even have to exist, campaigning and demanding for what should already be the basic protections for animals.
I only hope the public keep their eyes upon these men, after time has elapsed I can imagine them believing they have been forgotten and sneak a friend’s dog/s into the coursing fields.
As with others sentences, enforcement is the key, to any sentence .
We couldn't agree more. I think it is quite telling also when the most severe punishment given out on this particular crime is still as lenient as it is. The laws across the UK are never in the interests of the animals being persecuted and it is key this is changed to put more pressure on better enforcement across the board.
Brilliant ti see the law being enforced, and the vile perpetrators being well delta with, bravo protect the wild, and thank for all you do on behalf of animals and ourselves .xx
And the reason the fox hunters etc. are less likely to be pursued in court.....you guessed it....they are more often than not, influential 'untouchables'. They are often wealthy individuals...which means they are in a position to buy themselves out of trouble 😇

Disgusting 'pastime' which should carry a prison sentence. Glad to see tougher laws being enforced - still a long way to go.

AND STILL NOT JAILED! Disgraceful non-sentence of thugs who torture animals.

There should be much harsher punishment for these evil perpetrators, it’s about time animals get the protection they deserve.
Disgusting but delighted to hear they were prosecuted.
Justice at last! I wish it had been prison though.
Sadistic Monsters. I would throw away the key.

Why is justice so weak. Suspended is not strong enough to deter these criminals.
