This is all totally upsetting and disgustingly cruel. How any human being can do this is beyond me. This makes me feel ashamed to be human. PLEASE stop all of this now.

I feel the exact same way Jeannette Brazier.

I completely agree!

It is absolutely heartbreaking and disgusting how the farmers and politicians can be so ignorant and vicious toward innocent badgers when TB is spread by constantly moving, buying and selling cows all over and scientific studies have proven that it is NOT the badgers fault

Expand full comment

Thats right ! Pick on the Badgers now. You disgusting cruel murderers.. All wild animals have the right to live in peace. Lets start culling the nasty evil " people " on this earth. Defra and farmers perhaps would be a good place to start.

That is 100% true comment .

I Completely agree! Like I always say about all "culls", Do they "cull" humans (who are THE most overpopulated, environmentally destructive, invasive and dangerous species on Earth to all)?!

Expand full comment

It has been said that the only control of the species of 'man' is that they war amongst themselves. Ukraine could do with some cannon fodder!

Yes -deathra and unnatural England for starters.

This is typical of this useless government. They never listen to expert advice, just take the easy option give in to the NFU and please the farming community just to gain their votes. Time to rid the country of the nasty party, vote Labour.

Expand full comment

OK I agree but what if Labour win and don`t keep their promise to end Badger culling then we`re in a big mess. The best way is to ban "lobbying" and keep the NFU and DEFRA out of the equation whoever wins the election. Only then can we have a true representation of the democratic system and save our wildlife.

Expand full comment

I am sure Labour will keep to their promise but we will only know by giving them a chance. We can then judge them on their performance. Not sure how keeping the NFU and DEFRA out of the equation will work. We will have more tractors blocking our roads in protest. The government along with groups like Protect the Wild has to bring to the fore scientific evidence to prove once and for all BTB is not being spread by badgers.

Expand full comment

Mr. Fox, scientific evidence is already available but ignored. What they can`t ignore is my vote. This is the only way to prove that the pen is mightier than the sword. The only humane way to get rid of scum from the surface of our beautiful green countryside.

Expand full comment

Nikita, yes I agree scientific evidence is being ignored, but by whom? This corrupt , useless government has a record of ignoring scientific advice on a variety of matters unless it benefits them and their wealthy hooray Henry mates. Yes place your vote and place is wisely, for a caring government that will listen to scientific advice and one that is electable.

No vote Libdem for a whole new type of government hopefully with no more corruption and backhanders.

What are we doing to the animals ? It’s bad enough killing sentient beings for food but this is just outrageous, any excuse to go on a killing spree. I’m ashamed of the human race.

I feel the exact same way Dorothy.

This is absolutely appalling. There is no proper science to back this up. Vaccination would be a preferable route but Defra seems determined to prove itself a ministry for death instead of aiding the environment.

Bastards. This government needs to be prosecuted for this immoral, unethical, unscientific, despicable and cruel murder of an innocent species of so called protected animals.

Cull those vile scumbags in the government and defraud, together with the hunting scum. That will cleanse the country of the real dangerous vermin

There the ones that need wiping out.!

Completely agree with both of you!

Guy Fawkes was the last one who tempted to get rid of our vermin government and we still celebrate it to this day. What are we waiting for, blow the bastards up and end it once and for all. James Sharpe, professor of history at the University of York, has described how Guy Fawkes came to be toasted as "the last man to enter Parliament with honest intentions" (Wiki).

Heartbreaking and totally FUCKED UP!!! How can this be allowed in what I thought was an animal loving and civilised country!!! Stop this HORRIFYING animal torture now!!!

Expand full comment

Would somebody please tell me what possible benefit can there be for man or beast, from what is really KILLING, let’s call a spade a spade here, these beautiful and INNOCENT creatures.

Expand full comment

So this is the new low that this corrupt government has sunk to

killing innocent creatures without any direct evidence it's so pitiful and at the same time so heartbreaking on this point alone this government ought to be thrown out and made to pay for their crimes because actually that's what it is it's criminal it makes me heartbroken

Expand full comment

I like how assholes think God creatures need to be managed. We have same problem here in this sorry ass country of America. Jerks want to manage bears, deers or what ever creatures it might be because they cause a problem. Maybe if you jerks wouldn't cut down, blacktop and destroys their homes they wouldn't be coming into contact and causing problems. It's not them destroying God's earth but us.

Expand full comment

Yes and what about the Wolves and raptors mindless people are murduring in your country and ours!

Expand full comment

Completely agree! Allowing human overpopulation to spiral and result in the destruction of their (the wild animals) homes and then think we have the right to "manage" them by killing?! I don't mind humane population control where no killing is done but I am 100% against any "culling" of any and all animals species just to "manage" their population numbers whilst completely and blindly forgetting about our own overpopulation crisis!

Totally agree 100% humans are raping this planet over populating everywere taking whats not theirs to take im livid about this nobody has any right to take another life

Expand full comment

Completely agree!

I am so incensed by this news I feel I have to leave a second comment on this subject. The UK is a tiny island VASTLY OVERPOPULATED with HUMANS!!!! As a species we share the planet we don’t own it, we are the only species that cause and spread decease, that destroy the very Earth we live on. So if we point the feeble excuses we use to justify this cull of one of the UKs most iconic and beautiful animals then we should certainly be culling humans too.

If one of the reasons to kill badgers is because of farmers and their stock then let’s remember that there is not 100% proof that badgers cause TB in cattle, let’s also remember that much of farming has despicable animal welfare records and many farming “methods” pollute the land and waterways causing even more destruction of land and wildlife.

What an incredible species we are, we are certainly not worthy of our occupancy of planet Earth.

Expand full comment

Completely agree with all you say there Jo!

Expand full comment

You are so right unfortunately some humans think they own the world and animals are not important. You are right about not being 100% sure about badgers and TB I personally from experience think it's the filthy conditions animals are kept in, badgers should not be murdered when there is no proof, same happened to Geronimo.

Expand full comment

Exactly. And in the case of little Geronimo, the truth eventually came out that he didn’t actually have TB!!!! They are just merciless killers.

I completely agree with you and feel the exact same way Jo Aird!
