What a brilliant idea! Congratulations to the Wheelbarrow Race organiser, and to Lewes Council who are leading the way in serving public interests by this. You are a both beacons of shining light! Love the Council's declaration for refusing permission for the hunt on their land too. A copy should be sent to all councils!

So stoked to have been getting good news stories from you these days. You harding working Sabs are finally getting to see the fruits of all your hard work. Thanks so much for sticking through the hard times and those spineless , heinous attacks on you. You stood back up and fought on, Thank you so much for all that you've gone through to save thee precious animals.

Absolutely agree. The sabs are wonderful. But so shocking to hear about the poor young woman who was attacked so brutally. I hope she's recovered, although she must still be traumatised.

We did think of this idea to stop the Monmouth Hunt Parade in Abergavenny - but lots of people were going away for Christmas or had family issues. We must really plan ahead right now for Boxing Day 2024.

Perhaps the people who organised this Wheelbarrow race can help us organise one here in Abergavenny for next year. We are clueless!

Good luck, Helen. Brilliant idea. Once started and gathering momentum, hopefully it will be taken up all over the country. :)

I'm so pleased that my local council has chosen the wheelbarrow race and not the hunt parade. I'm also heartened by them banning hunts of all kinds from council land.

Helen you are so inspiring, so is your council! Do get as much media attention as you can for the Boxing Day event, including National papers and TV. This must be on the news to spread the word and inspire other people and councils. Be proud and enjoy the day! True festive spirit indeed!

WELL DONE, LEWES COUNCIL!!! I shall write to them and maybe some of your supporters can, as well. Always good to praise. Not only the Boxing Day parade but the other legislation re hunting. What a wonderful piece of news. I might even go to Lewes and hand in a donation to the food bank :)

This is most wonderful news! It shows that those individuals of compassion - for foxes in this case but, by extension, for all life - have allies in ‘higher places’. If this support from Lewes Council is a precedent - or nearly - it needs to be repeated nationally as far as possible for it is clearly an excellent way to reach the ‘unengaged’ general public whose support we need to marginalise - ‘de-normalise’ in fact - the hateful business of the rural bullies. Well done all involved!

Such a lovely piece of news to read this morning, thanks for the information. I have written to the Lewes Council to thank them and congratulate them for supporting a really good cause instead of the hunt. And, James, I enjoyed reading your message and would like to assure you I too give to so many environmental an animal charities, apart from the beauty and pleasure they give us we need them desperately to keep Mother Nature's balance. Again, well done to all of us, we are all doing our bit to help.

Well done Lewes Council. We've all just got to show these arrogant unfeeling people that we just won't accept their barbaric pursuits.

GOOD on you "LEWES" council, you show you have a "BEATING" "HEART", under your chest's, not like the "SAVAGE" "SCUM", who like to "KILL", "MURDER" our most "AMAZING" worlds "WILDLIFE", the "KILLERS" of our wildlife have a "SICKNESS" in there "HEART", "SOUL" and "MIND", how do the "KILLERS"/"MURDERERS" of our planet's "BEAUTIFUL" creatures live with themselves I do not understand them, people "MUST" "STOP" the "ONSLAUGHT" of "WILDLIFE", "I HATE THEM WITH A VENOM".
