This article destroyed me before I had finished reading it. I knew as soon as I saw the horrific photo of that poor, vulnerable, and obviously scared dog being handled like that that this article would be harrowing. That photo wasn’t taken out of context, as the Dorset Hunt would have you believe. Look at the angry face of that monster, that tells you everything about how much he cared and empathised with the dog. I can’t bear to read about how badly those beautiful dogs are treated, it’s soul destroying, they are as much victims of this disgusting industry as the foxes are, but it’s vitally important you get this information out into the public domain. Dogs are the most trusting, vulnerable, loyal creatures imaginable. They do not deserve to be treated this way. Thank you for raising awareness of the vile abuse of the hounds.

I completely agree with you Helen ❤️!

Thank you, Cara. I know you would have felt the same and I was thinking of you while you were reading it, hoping it wasn’t upsetting you too much. ♥️

You are most welcome Helen and thank you for very kindly thinking of me too 💖. As much as it hurts, I just keep trying to remind myself that, as horrible as it is, through reading all this, I can have more knowledge about it so I can use that to help end all of this for good. I sadly don't think I have the strength to be a hunt sab or an undercover investigator but I hope I can try and help digitally here at least, as best as I can. I believe that it is the same for you Helen and I know how difficult it must be for you too 🫂. Some articles I literally just can't fully or sometimes even partially read (and I always have the images on my emails turned off so I don't see anything graphic, which does help) but I do try. I just sincerely hope that a proper ban happens soon. It is very sadly too late for all those poor dogs, wild, domestic and farm animals who were killed/murdered but at least, if (hopefully when, sooner rather than later) this is properly banned for good, once and for all, no more innocent souls will suffer 🤞❤️💖💖.

I wish I could be a sab too Cara, and I know you would go if you could. I could drive a jeep, but that’s about it I think for myself. I remember trying to convince an animal activist in the 80’s to let me go out sabbing with him, but he refused, said there was too much physical violence and he only took rugby player type blokes who could defend themselves physically. You do such a lot, Cara, please never underestimate how important, effective and helpful that is.♥️✨ I do the same as you, have images turned off on emails, that might be useful for the articles too, thanks for that tip. It depends, some days I can stomach more than others. I think about the poor souls who have suffered too; it makes me feel utter despair that it’s too late to help them. The full ban can’t come fast enough. 🙏🏻

Completely agree. And these beautiful animals can certainly be retired and rehomed, despite hunts claiming otherwise.

totlly agree ... the hounds and horses are also innocent victims of hunting. These monsters kill for fun and have no qualms with manhandling etc their hounds in public. I dread to think how they are treated out of sight :(

Thank you, Sam. I dread what must happen out of sight too and agree that they are monsters.

Excellent report highlighting debased behaviour of the hunting fraternity, again! I recall seeing a sabs video of a happy hound being fussed by sabs and then cringing and backing away from a huntsman who went over to collect it, physically dragging it by scruff and rump skin and tossing it up the ramp of a trailer! I was livid then and am sickened but not surprised by this report! Has everyone seen the new RSPCA advertisement - respect for all animals? What a joke! They do nothing about this type of behaviour (or anything else)! My home is still open for a rescued hound, anytime!

Thanks for everything you're doing to highlight the appalling abuse that hounds are being subjected to. Each individual concerned should be held responsible and prosecuted.

This all clearly shows that the poor hounds are just as much innocent victims of the barbaric 'hunts' as the poor foxes, deers, hares, rabbits etc are 😿💔🤬🤬🤬!! Although very, very upsetting to read, all these recorded 'incidents' clearly shows that, despite the lies they come out with, the sick 'hunts' clearly don't give a single toss about the poor hounds and are just cruelly using them as a scapegoat to trick and exploit the public's/most people's love for dogs as a way to continue their sadistic cruelty to all! As this article correctly points out, considering all of what heartbreakingly has and still is happening to the poor hounds, the hounds would be far better off not being bred into that cruel existence anymore at all although, ALL of the beautiful hounds currently held in the 'kennels' (currently existing in kennels as well, not living in loving homes!) can be easily rehomed out and adopted, NOT murdered!! Thank you Protect the Wild (and Charlotte Smith) for everything that you are doing 👍👏✊❤️💖💖!!

An excellent article, thank you PTW and please keep spreading the word on this. Education of the public is vital if we are to bring about an end to this despicable pastime.

To add to this I have previously carried out research which indicates fox hunts collectively shoot between 6,000 - 7,000 hounds each year I.e. when the poor animal becomes unable to hunt effectively due to age or simply does not “fit in” with the rest of the pack. The hunts would of course prefer the public only sees the “traditional” image they wish to portray, but the facts around hound welfare are both ugly and cruel. Hounds are not put down humanely, instead they get a gun to the head, how on earth the law allows this I don’t know. Just awful 😡

So true Dave. The hounds usually get the bullet at around just 7 years of age, its heartbreaking.

Exactly Larraine, only half a hounds normal life expectancy

These murdering scum are only interested in causing as much pain and suffering to all animals. All they want is to satisfy their evil gratification to give them power, because all they are just jumped up cowards.

Excellent research and article highlighting a side of hunting that is often overlooked by the public. Just a note that you've left what looks like a reminder to yourself to possibly add a link to the hound that fell from a bridge.

THESE HUNTERS ARE COWARDS, THEY GET PLEASURE FROM HURTING OTHERS, WHO CANNOT DEFEND THEMSELVES VERBALLY OR PHYSICALLY. FOR THEM IT HAS THE EMPOWERING OF LIFE OVER DEATH, AND A SEXUAL SATISFACTION, OTHERWISE WHY DO THESE CRUEL THINGS?

So sad to see these horrific photos , more needs to be done for animal cruelty.
