Absolutely brilliant idea.

How amazing to offer these sessions. I would love to be a sab or monitor but quite frankly I know the impact of what I could possibly witness prevents me. Hats off to those that do and I will continue to support you financially.

Rob, having been a hunt sab and suffered violence on numerous occasions over the years at the hands of hunters, the offer of counselling is a noble one as I know the mental impact such violence can have. But, in the interests of transparency and given PTW is largely funded by your substack providers are you able to disclose the budget to be set aside for counselling? Speaking personally, my preference would be for PTW funds to be used to fund sab groups equipment and vehicles I.e. as it is now. People have mental health issues for all sorts of reasons, help for which can be sought from the NHS and I’m not sure that directing PTW funds in this way is appropriate. As I say, just my view and I hope you don’t object to me sharing it here. Many thanks.

Good morning Dave. Thanks for your comment. You make a good point, and I should perhaps have clarified in the article that the budgets are separate. There will still be funds for equipment as before. However, as you know this is essentially the end of a really difficult hunting 'season' and we speak with a lot of monitors and sabs who have really suffered. We wanted to find a way to address that if we could. We also wanted to try and link up with someone with specific experience counselling activists and who comes from an animal rights background. Those last points were critical as far as we were concerned. Crucial in our thinking too was the fact that simply offering kit to individuals too broken to want it without trying to help those individual seemed to be sidestepping something really important. We may be wrong, this may not be a way to help at all, but we wanted to at least try. Time will tell - but again, though, the budgets are separate and spending on one does not impact the other. Hi Charlie, thanks for replying to me and for clarifying the position. That all makes sense to me now. I sincerely hope the initiative works and helps people. Keep up the great work. All the best Dave
