The Dorset eagles visited my clifftop summer grazing for some time. They used the horses water there and we found the water was turning oily and there were fish scales, fish bones and rabbit bones in and around the bowls! The horses stopped drinking which was a concern so I got more bowls and hid some in the lower bushes so both birds and horses were accommodated. It worked fine! Guess whose shooting estate is a short trip over the sea (boats do it for shopping it's so direct)! My so - called MP, Drax!! No doubt a drinking buddy of Loder, they think they own our beautiful county! Can't wait for the election, there will be nothing secret about who I will vote for, and why!
Lots of anger here. It is sad to see a killed animal by ignorant people. The work done in reintroduction needs maybe more local publicity and continuous education. Young people are more keen on protection of nature, so schools are the palaces to campaign. Changing minds of hunters is near impossible, it is a mindset which I ve seen has many beliefs regarding pests and damage to owners. It is in Europe too. Big group of hunters are lobbying to change a law in Slovakia and EU to be able to shoot now protected bears, who are not do many on total, but people invade the forests more often, so sometimes there is a undesirable contact with them. There were some serious attacks, and because of it the whole species is in danger to be recategorized as not endangered on the protection list. The problem is that people did not adapt their thinking and treat forested areas as if there were no prefatory animals there as it was the case for a century, when they were driven to almost extinction. The lack of awarness and ignorance are the main perpetrators.
What a disgusting thing to do shooting a reintroduced bird i hope the eat that shot down this innocent bird catches the most excrutiating disease and suffers, so sad these birds are persecuted utter scumbags
